Raw Starter Guide

When feeding raw there are many ways that people start feeding raw.
We follow the most effective way of feeding raw, through a transition period. All minces that are recommended in the below transition can be found here.

Raw Starter Guide – Dogs Over 6 Months Old
Day 1 -7 – Plain Ox/Beef or Lamb Tripe. Ox/Beef Tripe is recommended, unless you are feeding a low fat diet.

Day 8-14 – Chicken and Tripe 10% bone.

Day 15 – 22 – Duck and Tripe 10% bone.

Day 23- 29 – Ox Tripe and Chicken or Ox Tripe and Duck Complete 80/10/10

Day 30+ – Now is the time to add in extra proteins, in the form 80/10/10. This will include red meats, pork and game. The aim is for a new protein every 3 days.

Raw Starter Guide – Puppies under 6 Months Old
Puppies under 6 months old are able to transition through to raw a lot quicker than older dogs.

Day 1 -3 – Plain Ox/Beef or Lamb Tripe. Ox/Beef Tripe is recommended, unless you are feeding a low fat diet.

Day 4-6 – Chicken and Tripe 10% bone.

Day 7-9 – Duck and Tripe 10% bone.

Day 10-12 – Ox Tripe and Chicken or Ox Tripe and Duck Complete 80/10/10

Day 13+– Now is the time to add in extra proteins, in the form 80/10/10. This will include red meats, pork and game. The aim is for a new protein every 3 days.

How Much to Feed
For dogs 12 months and over it is recommended to feed between 2-3% of your dogs ideal body weight.

For Puppies under 12 months it is advised to feed a higher percentage of food, to aid with their little growing bones.

1-2 Months – 10% (Breeder should use this amount for weaning pup onto raw)

2-3 Months 9% (If you have just brought pup home from Mum then we suggest starting here if your pup is 8 weeks old)

3-4 Months 8%

4-6 Months 6%

6-9 Months 4%

9-12 Months 3%

Please note that this amount will change based on the pups weight also increasing.

We have an online calculator to help with this.
