Introduction – Our review of this dog friendly pub campsite
Our review of this dog friendly pub campsite. We love our camping nights away, and that doesn’t mean that we need to go far away to be able to feel like we are a million miles away, to be able to switch off.
The Hunters Inn, Longdon has turned into one of our firm favourites, when we want to stay local.
- Dog Friendly
- Grass pitches
- Hard standing pitches
- Electric Hook up
- Shower block
- Toilets
- Washing Up area
- Bins
- Elsan point
- Dog Friendly Pub (Excluding the restuarant area, but two areas are dog friendly)
Arriving at The Hunters Inn
When you arrive at The Hunters Inn, you can park in their large main car park. Check-in takes place inside the pub. On arrival, you receive paperwork containing all your pitch information and a site map. This makes it easy to locate everything you need.
During our first visit, we found the process very thorough. The information pack included check-out times and other useful reminders, so nothing was left unclear.
Campsite Layout and Access
The campsite is located behind the pub, accessed through locked gates. A dirt track runs through the centre, allowing easy vehicle access. We have only visited during dry weather, so we cannot comment on how muddy the track might get in wet conditions.
The pitches start immediately after the gates. We have never stayed near the entrance, so we are unsure if there would be extra noise from the road or car park. However, road noise has never been an issue during our stays.
Pitch Types and Sizes
The site accommodates up to:
- 10 tent pitches
- 10 motorhome or camper pitches
- 10 caravan pitches
The pitches are a good size. Even when full, the site does not feel overcrowded.
Our own vehicle is around 8 metres long and fits neatly on the hard-standing pitches, with plenty of space for awnings too.
Location and Surroundings
The pub sits on a country road at the edge of a village. Walking routes directly from the pub are limited, as the country lanes have fast-moving traffic. However, there are many scenic walking spots nearby. These include countryside trails and dog-friendly areas.
Nearby Places to Visit
The Hunters Inn is about a 10-minute drive from Upton-upon-Severn and Tewkesbury. It’s also a short journey to the Malvern Hills, Worcester city centre, Gloucester Quays, and The Cotswold Designer Outlet.

Why We Choose The Hunters Inn
One of the main reasons we return to The Hunters Inn is its location. When you work six days a week, a dry weekend feels too precious to waste. Having a local, clean campsite nearby is a real bonus — and that’s exactly what The Hunters Inn offers.
Convenience of On-Site Toilets
For a one-night stay, it’s great to have toilets on site. This saves us from setting up the camper’s own facilities for such a short visit. The toilets have always been available and clean.
In the women’s section, there are two toilet cubicles and one shower area. I have not yet used the shower, so I can’t comment on the facilities. The toilets are located behind the pub. Depending on your pitch, they are fairly close, and even the furthest pitch is not far for those urgent moments.
Atmosphere on Different Weekends
We have stayed during a busy bank holiday and on a quieter summer weekend. Both visits were relaxing, with other guests being respectful.
Over the bank holiday, there were many children laughing and playing. It was a lively and friendly atmosphere. However, if you are looking for an adults-only break, this is not the site for you — there are other locations better suited to that.
Enjoying the Pub’s Food
On both visits, we ordered food from the pub. We didn’t dine in, but ordered sides to accompany our BBQ and desserts on another occasion.
The food was well priced and nicely presented. Side portions were generous, while desserts were on the smaller side, from what I remember.
Friendly but Unobtrusive Staff
The staff are welcoming and happy to help if needed. At the same time, they respect your privacy and allow you to relax without interruptions.
Room for Improvement
In all honesty the areas for improvement are so trival because we really did enjoy our stay at this dog friendly pub campsite.
- Provide a menu with the welcome pack, it may entice more people to use the pub during the stay
- Have takeaway containers for those who would prefer to stay at their vehicle whilst purchasing food from the pub.
Final Verdict
- Would you recommend it? Yes 100%
- Who would enjoy it most (families, couples, solo adventurers)? All of the above, the site is suitable for all, however if you are taking young children then you will need to make sure that they have enough things to occupy their attention.
